My Family Reunion Tribute to My Mom

May 25th, 2008

My Mom When She Was Young                 My Mom on a Dodge, Sexy                       My Mom now   Love of a family. My Mom as a little girl, as a young lady, and now.   I think I speak for each and every person in this room.We would like to give thanks to our mothers and fathers for all they have given us in life. I especially want to thank my Mother and Father for teaching us to do what is right in life, to love each other as a family above all else.  My parent’s especially have taught me not to let outside forces ever interfere with my family coming first.  As we have fought many battle in our lives we have overcome and it was through the love and respect that our parents had for each other and taught us to have for each other,. Teaching us not only by their words, but their examples.  I only hope I can be as good of an example to my kids as my parents have been to me.  I also hope that I can always live up to the expectations of my parents, and to do what is right above all else, and put my family first.

We are all gathered here because of the love of our parents and their parents, and so forth.  We share a common bond that is only known in families who love and respect each other above all else.

Many of us here have lost our spouse, parents, children, sisters, and brothers and would give anything in the world to have even one more moment with them to tell them how much we love them.  I am one who is lucky enough to still have my parents here.  I treasure every moment I can spend with them, Time is something you can never get back, so in our busy lives we need to take time everyday to tell the ones we love how much they mean to us and to give them, as they have given to us, the gift of  our time, because at the end of the day all that matters is our family.  Thank you all and  above all I want to thank my Mother, I love her more than life itself, she has given unselfishly, she has put her family above all else and if ever there were an angel on earth it is my Mother.  I love you Mom.

Betrayal

May 18th, 2008

~To betray the woman who has devoted her life to you, is shameful, it is the wrongest wrong.  To betray the children and grandchildren, that have respected you, by doing exactly what you have always fought against, is shameful, it is the wrongest wrong.  To try to be the “Hero” of someone else and betray your family by doing this, is the worst cowardness of all.~ Author Unknown

~ One should rather die than be betrayed. There is no deceit in death. It delivers precisely what it has promised. Betrayal, though … betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope. ~  Steven Deitz

I Really Get Sick of Stupid Politicians

September 23rd, 2007

I really get sick of stupid politicians.

Texas Representative, Warren Chisum, wants to make it harder to get a divorce. You can read the proposed bill at http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/80R/billtext/pdf/HB02684I.pdf

I feel that this would just make the desperate more desperate; there would be more murders, abuse, and missing people. If I was with someone I couldn’t live with, and there was no way out, I am afraid I would have to take desperate measures.

I think it all comes down to the “Right Wing” Republicans platform of “Family Values”. Talk about hiding behind something, “Family Values?” How many of these politicians have affairs, sexually abuse the young pages, are actually gay, yet don’t stand up for gay rights.

President Bush vetoed stem cell research, saying “I don’t believe in sacrificing a life, to save a life”. What about this Iraq war?

The current administration cut funding to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood provides so much good info, STD testing, and birth control to the people who can’t afford these services otherwise.  They also provide these services to young kids, who probably are afraid to talk to their parents about these subjects.

Ignoring these things won’t make them go away. We will just have more uneducated people, with more kids, who more than likely will follow in their parents footsteps and we will have more poverty, welfare, and domestic violence.

When the desperate get more desperate they take desperate measures. I can’t imagine a young girl thinking she might be pregnant; probably being scared to tell a parent, not having a place to go that could help her in confidence.

What about the churches; that protest in front of these clinics; which make threats; and actual bomb these places. I thought religion was supposed to teach love, forgiveness, understanding, etc., not violence.

Strong Women !!

September 18th, 2007

teresa_caldwell_763_fullno-hair-bc.jpgRosie the Riveter, a fictional character supporting the world war II effort, helped to recruit more than two million women into the workforce with these ads. These ads led to a tremendous change in the relationship between women and the workplace. As a result, employment outside of the home became socially acceptable and even desirable. Over time, Rosie has become an Icon that symbolized the strength of women, and their determination and ability to do any job.

This has become my Motto !! I feel like I, or any other woman, can do anything we set our minds to do.

I just want to encourage women (and men) to stay strong in their passions, listen to their own inner voice, turn off the negative comments by those who don’t believe, become the person you want to be, don’t be afraid of change, be brave and patient. So go out there and take the first step to becoming who you want to be !!!!
